New Zealand’s wind and weather conditions can place significant demands on windows and external doors. A product that performs adequately in one location may not be suitable for another, which is why New Zealand classifies window performance according to the exposure conditions the product is expected to withstand.

SIIGMATIC provides NATA-accredited testing for windows and doors to relevant requirements of SNZ TS 4211:2022, the New Zealand specification used to classify window performance and support the selection of products suitable for their intended building and exposure conditions. Testing can assess key areas of performance including structural deflection, operating force, air permeability, water penetration resistance, ultimate strength and torsional rigidity, depending on the product and classification being sought.

The result is more than a simple pass or fail. Testing establishes credible performance data that manufacturers, suppliers and designers can use to determine where a window or door system is suitable for use, including the wind and water exposure it has demonstrated it can withstand.

For manufacturers supplying the New Zealand market, independent test evidence is fundamental. The New Zealand Building Code framework recognises NZS 4211:2008 and the newer SNZ TS 4211:2022 as pathways for demonstrating the structural and weathertightness performance of windows and external doors.
